✨Let the festivi-teas begin! ✨A friend and I treated ourselves to the festive high tea at Byfords this week and absolutely loved it. It’s such a nice way to get together after some Christmas shopping in the run up to the big day. ✨We are real savoury fans and enjoyed the yummy sandwiches (and the complimentary sandwich top up, of course), cheese scones, black treacle pigs in blankets and more, though who are we kidding - the pretty, festive sweet treats were really good, too. Special mention (for us) goes to the gingerbread gateau opera cake and the tonka panna cotta melted snowman. Obviously, we left with doggy bags, and full of festive cheer (and goodies!), heading outside to admire the twinkling lights and festive bow on the door. ✨Need to know ✨
@byfords_of_holt’s festive high tea will be served from 2pm to 5pm daily until 23 December - booking at least 24 hours in advance is essential. Adult £32; child (6-11 years) £18; under 6s £11. ✨One of my favourite Christmas traditions is visiting the nativity on Common Place in Little Walsingham, and I went along the other evening. Seeing this beautiful, simple scene always gives me a moment to pause and reflect. ✨Need to know
The crib is illuminated from 8am until midnight daily and will be in situ until the week commencing 6 January. ✨St Mary’s Church in Snettisham is lit up for Christmas and it’s absolutely spectacular! ✨ ✨The exterior of this magnificent 14th century church is illuminated by a beautiful sequence of colourful light play - keep watching until the end! ✨This is always such a joy to see - thank you to everyone who makes it happen. ✨Need to know ✨

See the lights✨ I love my annual trip to see the Holt Christmas lights with my youngest brother. The town was buzzing on Saturday evening and it was lovely to see other people out enjoying the twinkling lights around the town and the fantastic shop window displays. 🌲Hello December🌲 From pretty pink skies, bracing beach walks, skeins of pink-footed geese overhead and sunsets on the coast, to Fakenham Parish Church’s Christmas Tree Festival (daily until 5 December), festive family fun - the Ukulele Elves were brilliant at @holkhamestate last year - pantos and shows, magical trails, historic houses decking the halls, twinkling lights and decorated shop windows to enjoy in our towns and villages - it’s December in North Norfolk! 📷📷

✨Deck the halls…✨ Holkham Hall by Candlelig

✨Deck the halls…✨ Holkham Hall by Candlelight shines brighter than ever this year. It’s a feast for the senses, with each room decked out in a different theme, the sense of anticipation building as you walk from space to space. The twinkling trees, the stunning floral arrangements (all done by volunteers at Fakenham and District Flower Club), the atmospheric lighting, the soundscapes, the candles… so many candles (it takes two hours to light them every day)... all bring the magic. There are too many highlights to mention and we don’t want to spoil the surprises, but we particularly loved the Statue Gallery, where a charming AV display transforms the space into a winter wonderland with snowy scenes, deer, birds - and look out for the tiny mouse! The Carnival Room designed by Alice King [@alice_king_stylist] - a kaleidoscope of colour with rainbow-striped llama pulling a sleigh - is another joy to behold. And the gingerbread replica of the Hall, the Obelisk, the Temple, the Coke Monument and St Withburga Church - created by Emily Garland - is sure to elicit gasps when you walk into the Kitchen. It’s not just the Hall that has had a festive makeover. Boomting Bunting [@boomtingbunting] has given the Courtyard Cafe an enchanting new look, Georgia Kossowicz [@mayk_norfolk] has adorned the windows with cute illustrations and the shop sparkles with baubles, gifts and Christmas finery. This glittering festive extravaganza takes the Countess of Leicester and @catherinezoll a year to plan and the level of detail is extraordinary. It gives a whole new meaning to decking the halls… You can book a self-led tour on various dates through November and December - the ticket price includes a glass of Prosecco and a mince pie.
